Racing to the Fore: A Contest of Courage and Speed
Team Member

The traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Race, part of the 2014 New Year celebrations, was held as scheduled on 9 February at Darling Harbour in Sydney. Along the sparkling, rippling waters of Darling Harbour under sunny skies, one imposing dragon boat after another—each measuring 12 metres in length—glided vividly across the clear water. This dragon boat race, rich in traditional Chinese flavour, drew more than 100,000 spectator visits, fully demonstrating the love that Chinese residents in Australia, local communities and overseas visitors have for traditional Chinese New Year activities. Melanie Cantwell of the NSW Dragon Boat Association explained that this year's dragon boat competition featured more than 3,000 participants from 58 dragon boat clubs across NSW, including community, corporate and charity divisions. KVB Kunlun International sponsored a youth charity division dragon boat, and these young paddlers—dressed in red racing uniforms—were full of vigour and vitality. After four rounds of wave-cutting competition, they bravely claimed third place in the youth charity division in the final. After the race, the NSW Dragon Boat Association presented a trophy to the dragon boat sponsored by KVB Kunlun International. KVB Kunlun International expressed its appreciation for the unity and tenacious, determined fighting spirit shown by the team members. The traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Race is not only a novel New Year celebration event; it also embodies a spirit of aspiration, enthusiasm, endeavour and courage. It is with this very enthusiasm that KVB Kunlun International makes its tireless efforts and pursues active innovation in providing high-quality financial services to overseas Chinese communities.
