On October 23, the 2009 HKABA NSW Chapter Business Awards ceremony was held with great fanfare at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney. The purpose of this "Business Achievement Award" is to honor businesses and enterprises across various sectors in New South Wales that have made outstanding contributions to trade between Australia and Hong Kong as well as mainland China. The awards ceremony that evening was attended by approximately 500 guests, including distinguished figures from the political and business communities such as NSW Minister for Gaming and Racing Kevin Greene MP, MLC Henry Tsang, former Minister for Immigration Phillip Ruddock MP, and Parliamentary Secretary for Trade John Murphy.

The Hong Kong Australia Business Association, initiated by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and established in 1987, aims to promote a positive image of Hong Kong and strengthen economic ties between Hong Kong/China and Australia. After more than two decades of development, the Hong Kong Australia Business Association has grown into one of the most influential business organizations in Australia.
