Themed "Experience China", the Australian "Year of Chinese Culture" marks the first time the Chinese government has held a large-scale series of cultural events in Australia. The Year of Chinese Culture will introduce China's splendid traditional culture and vibrant contemporary culture to Australia through a variety of formats, including performing arts, visual arts, and film screenings. The staging of the "Year of Chinese Culture" will provide Australia with a panoramic window into Chinese culture and its current development, promote cultural interaction and exchange between China and Australia, enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of the two nations, and further deepen the traditional friendship between the two countries and their peoples.

The opening ceremony of the "Year of Chinese Culture" sponsored by KVB Kunlun International, Dynamic Yunnan, will be grandly staged at the Sydney State Theatre on 24 June 2011, striking up the prelude to the cultural year.
