On June 1, Grant Thornton New Zealand, one of the world's top ten accounting firms, joined KVB Kunlun International New Zealand to co-host a tax seminar. The seminar welcomed more than 30 client guests, who attended the event at Grant Thornton's Auckland headquarters. The speakers, Grant Thornton New Zealand Tax Manager Alicia Bao and Partner Murray Brewer, shared the latest tax regulations with the client guests. Both speakers are experienced tax professionals with expertise in local and cross-border tax regulations.
After many consecutive days of the winter rainy season, Auckland was blessed with rare fine, sunny weather, and the guests all arrived on time, eager to hear Grant Thornton share the new tax regulations. The seminar was hosted by Rosaline Chan, Associate Director of Grant Thornton's Asia Business Group, with opening remarks delivered by Russell Moore, Executive Partner of Grant Thornton New Zealand.

Mr. Moore first welcomed all the client guests in attendance and thanked KVB Kunlun International and Grant Thornton for jointly hosting the tax seminar. Mr. Moore noted that both KVB and Grant Thornton are professional organizations in their respective fields, and that such collaboration would provide attending client guests with professional and up-to-date industry information—benefiting those engaged in business, property development, or newcomers to New Zealand alike. He also expressed hope that KVB and Grant Thornton could collaborate on more similar events in the future. On this occasion, KVB Kunlun International was led by Global Transactions Director David Zheng and organized by New Zealand Sales and Marketing Director Alvin Pang, building a bridge between local clients and professional organizations, with the aim of offering KVB clients better all-round local expert services and industry expertise, providing greater value and experience to both corporate and individual clients.

Following Mr. Moore's remarks, the seminar's speaker Alicia opened by addressing the new property policies that have recently been of greatest concern in the New Zealand market, sharing with the guests the various relevant regulations that arise in real estate transactions and the connections between them. Tax topics are usually rather dry, but through Alicia's clear and accessible sharing of practical case studies, the guests absorbed a great deal of useful knowledge and enthusiastically raised their own tax questions on the spot. Practical operational issues such as cross-border taxation, which are of great concern to new immigrants, were answered directly by Partner Murray Brewer, who was present with 20 years of tax law experience. Mr. Brewer used many concrete cases and verified the detailed provisions of bilateral tax treaties, greatly benefiting the guests in attendance.

After more than two hours of professional sharing, the Q&A session continued right up until lunchtime, and the clients were clearly still eager for more. Since the needs for personal taxation and property planning vary from person to person and more cases require tailored solutions, further consultations will subsequently take place through one-on-one communication between clients and the tax experts.
Drawing on the success of this tax seminar, KVB Kunlun International will continue to work closely with professional organizations including Grant Thornton in the future, hosting seminars related to taxation, law, trusts, and more, to safeguard the investments and business ventures of overseas Chinese. It also hopes that more overseas Chinese can enjoy high-quality, all-round local services through KVB's channels and professional network.
