In the midst of a bright and sunny Auckland summer, we once again welcomed the annual Chinese community festival: the Auckland Chinese New Year Flower Market and Festival Day. On January 21, the KVB Kunlun International booth at ASB Showground once again became, unsurprisingly, the focal point of the entire event. Not only was it a favourite among the public, but it also drew a gathering of political and business luminaries, including Auckland's new Prime Minister Bill English, Chinese Consul-General in Auckland Xu Erwen, Auckland's new Mayor Phil Goff, and several Members of Parliament. They made a point of posing for photos with the KVB Kunlun International God of Wealth, and highly commended and praised the contributions KVB Kunlun International has made in interpreting and promoting Chinese culture overseas.

The vibrant red booth radiated festive New Year cheer. The auspicious rooster dolls representing the Chinese Year of the Rooster were adorably charming, alongside peony fans full of classical Chinese charm and art calendars capturing the essence of the Maori people. There were also traditional New Year activities such as tracing calligraphy and writing Spring Festival couplets, and the God of Wealth handing out red envelopes—all adding to the joyful atmosphere for the citizens attending the festival.

Such sincere and innovative preparations were rewarded with the warm enthusiasm of Auckland residents. Nearly a thousand citizens of Chinese, European, and Pacific Island descent—from elders in their seventies and eighties to babies in strollers—formed a winding queue that stretched nearly a hundred metres outside the venue. KVB Kunlun International's gifts and activities, rich in Chinese character and cultural charm, embodied the deep goodwill of KVB Kunlun International towards the New Zealand community that has always supported us, and towards the broad public of both Chinese and Western backgrounds. Whether an elderly Chinese immigrant in their twilight years or a five-year-old local Kiwi child, all had their festive spirits brightened by the carefully prepared programmes and gifts, breaking into radiant smiles!
